Rock Edge

Oak on Rock Edge

Rock Edge is a tiny nature reserve in the middle of Headington which contains some exposed, fossil-bearing rocks from the Jurassic. Most local children are taken there on a trip at some time in their early school years, and Freya was no exception.

During her last months Freya spent a lot of time in and around Rock Edge – it was the closest accessible wild ground to our house. She was interested in the birds and flowers, but especially the insects that were found there.

The council kindly agreed to plant an oak as a memorial to Freya on the edge of the reserve.
